WASHINGTON IRVING LITERARY FESTIVAL

Friends, Erie Art Company is holding the 1st ever Irving Literary Festival that will include free new books for kids as well as a used book swap. The swap will be a “bring a book, take a book” booth. In order to provide many options, if you have books you would like to donate, in good condition, please message me for a pick up. The event is September 23rd so you have time to dust off old shelves and find those gems that no longer serve you. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this project!

The 1st annual Irving Literary Festival will be held in Washington Square Park (corner of Raspberry/Cascade and 24th/25th streets) on Saturday September 23, 2023 from noon until 5 pm. We are inviting Erie residents to experience the works of Washington Irving and original works of Erie writers and poets. The festival will be offering:

a free book tent for ages birth-teen,

a book swap for adults (bring a book, take a book),

book demonstrations,

poetry and short fiction readings from area storytellers and writers,

music in the gazebo,

crafts, and

photo opportunities with costumed characters.

Some vendors will be on hand in addition to the Tater Tater Food Truck and the WQLN Book Mobile. A dedication of the new Washington sign is also planned for this day’s events.

Anyone interested in volunteering, vending, or sponsoring this event can contact Erie Art Company at [email protected] or Margo at 814-450-1176 (talk or text).
